More than 5,000 customers of PG&E have now visited www.NOtoPGE.com and downloaded information to switch to a natural gas supplier which supports traditional marriage. This option is available not only for residential users, but also for churches and businesses. Meanwhile, teachers and other union members have inundated Pacific Justice Institute with calls and e-mails requesting information about diverting their union dues to charity. Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute, commented. "If this trend continues, unions, utilities and companies opposing traditional marriage will hopefully realize that they cannot expect to reap windfalls from Californians while actively undermining their values." More information on this option is available by visiting www.ChooseCharity.org or by contacting PJI Staff Attorney Matt McReynolds at 916-857-6900.
PJI Urges Support For Prop. 4
Sacramento, CA - In addition to the heated battle over Prop. 8, a less-publicized ballot measure in California also has the potential to increase protections of families and restore common sense. Attorneys for Pacific Justice Institute have carefully reviewed and recommend a "yes" vote on Prop. 4, which would create greater safeguards, including notification of parents or other family members, before a minor gets an abortion. Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute, stated, "In the current legal climate, we cannot go as far we might like to protect minors and their families from the horror of abortion, but we can make this life-altering choice more deliberate and increase family involvement. Prop. 4 is a step in the right direction, and we believe it will save innocent lives. Therefore, we urge conscientious Californians to join us in voting yes."
