Court Rules Lawsuit Involving Planned Parenthood Can Go Forward

Fairfield, CA–A Northern California judge ruled that a lawsuit by a pro-life pregnancy clinic can move forward.  The clinic is represented by Pacific Justice Institute.

The suit alleges that a landlord breached its lease with Alpha Pregnancy Clinics in order to protect a Planned Parenthood facility in the same building from competition.  It was important to Alpha to be located in close proximity to Planned Parenthood in order to offer a pro-life alternative and services for women and girls with crisis pregnancies.  The site is in Vacaville, California, about halfway between Sacramento and San Francisco.

Late Monday, the Solano County Superior Court issued a tentative ruling that overruled demurrers filed by the landlord.  That ruling became final today when the landlord’s attorneys chose not to ask for a hearing.

Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute, commented, “We are pleased with this ruling that allows our case to go forward so we can vindicate the rights of this pro-life pregnancy clinic.  Now more than ever, as the abortion industry is being exposed for the evil it perpetrates, pro-life voices and alternatives like Alpha are critically needed to offer hope and healing.  We look forward to moving ahead with this important case that should be an encouragement to pro-life advocates everywhere.”
