Murrieta Red Light Camera Case

Background: Residents of Murrieta, California, gathered enough signatures to place an initiative on the November 2012 ballot. This initiative would allow the residents to decide if the city's red-light cameras should be removed. The initiative was challenged by a questionably-timed lawsuit disputing the citizens ability to decide on traffic matters. Pacific Justice Institute believes the people have this right, and are fighting for the citizens of Murrieta to be able to decide the matter.

Status: Active litigation. A stay was issued in the initial ruling of blocking the initiative, allowing for the initiative to be on the ballot and the legality of it reviewed later.
